A Systematic Review of the Effects of Hormone Therapy on Psychological Functioning and Quality of Life in Transgender Individuals

JAN. 1, 2016

Hormone therapy interventions to improve the mental health and quality of life in transgender people with gender dysphoria have not been evaluated in controlled trials. Low quality evidence suggests that hormone therapy may lead to improvements in psychological functioning. Prospective controlled trials are needed to investigate the effects of hormone therapy on the mental health of transgender people.

Cervical Ripening With Prostaglandin E2 Vaginal Suppositories

MAY 1984

There were three instances of uterine hyperstimulation/ hypertonus following placement of the 3-mg PGE2 suppository, suggesting that perhaps a lower dose of PGE2 would improve its safety as a ripening agent without affecting its efficacy.

Evolutionary transcriptomics implicates HAND2 in the origins of implantation and regulation of gestation length

FEB. 1, 2021

HAND2 promoter loops to an enhancer containing SNPs implicated in birth weight and gestation length regulation. Collectively, these data connect HAND2 expression at the maternal-fetal interface with evolution of implantation and gestational regulation, and preterm birth.

HPV Vaccination and the Risk of Invasive Cervical Cancer

OCT. 1, 2020

Among Swedish girls and women 10 to 30 years old, quadrivalent HPV vaccination was associated with a substantially reduced risk of invasive cervical cancer at the population level.

Labor Induction versus Expectant Management in Low-Risk Nulliparous Women

AUG. 9, 2018

Induction of labor at 39 weeks in low-risk nulliparous women did not result in a significantly lower frequency of a composite adverse perinatal outcome, but it did result in a significantly lower frequency of cesarean delivery.

Levonorgestrel vs. Copper Intrauterine Devices for Emergency Contraception

JAN. 28, 2021

In this non-inferiority trial, the levonorgestrel IUD was non-inferior to the copper IUD for emergency contraception.

Maternal transmission of SARS‐COV‐2 to the neonate, and possible routes for such transmission: a systematic review and critical analysis

JUN. 12, 2020

Neonatal COVID‐19 infection is uncommon, rarely symptomatic, and the rate of infection is no greater when the baby is born vaginally, breastfed or remains with the mother.

No crossreactivity of anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike protein antibodies with Syncytin-1

13 Oct 2021

There is no significant homology or cross reactivity between the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and placental protein Syncytin-1. Moreover, no anti-Syncytin-1 antibodies were found in vaccinated patients.

Placental Tissue Destruction and Insufficiency from COVID-19 Causes Stillbirth and Neonatal Death from Hypoxic-Ischemic Injury: A Study of 68 Cases with SARS-CoV-2 Placentitis from 12 Countries

10 February 2022

The pathology abnormalities composing SARS-CoV-2 placentitis cause widespread and severe placental destruction resulting in placental malperfusion and insufficiency. In these cases, intrauterine and perinatal death likely results directly from placental insufficiency and fetal hypoxic-ischemic injury. There was no evidence that SARS-CoV-2 involvement of the fetus had a role in causing these deaths.

Preliminary Findings of mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine Safety in Pregnant Persons

APR. 21, 2021

Preliminary data about the use of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines during pregnancy shows adverse pregnancy & neonatal outcomes are similar to adverse outcomes pre-COVID.
